@FairviewRCflier i don’t think so. as they will not be working overnight. u definitely need a battery of course but even then it may take couple of thse just for the fridge. first make sure u’ve got a good energy saving fridge rather than those pre? 90′s ones that use 3x or more electricity
@GREENPOWERSCIENCE makes sense. it’s more cost effective (vs buying tons of these panels) to first replace your tv to led? and so on. i conclude
Hey Dan, can that set? up power a common fridge?
hi dan, can u point me to a site thats explains solar power config? i like the rollable, but i need to learn more? about solar configs. thanx
if i buy this panel will i need a 24 volt system i allready have a 12 volt system should i buy one of the? 68 watt panels cuz i like how it can roll up i wana put one on my jeep
if its DC volts why cant you hook them up directly to the 2 12 volt batterys in series why the inverter?why not use the regulater from a battery charger.maybe using even 6 batteries? in a series parallel curcuit
Dan, I’m looking to use the Uni-Solar PVL-136 to add electricity to a house in Sub-Saharan Africa. I know the panel is 15.5″? tall, but I don’t have any idea of how wide it is when rolled up. Can you give me an idea of its size when rolled up? Would it fit in a large suitcase?
Also, where do you get your inverter cables? Any recommendations? I’m looking at 2 Conductor 8AWG ($1.75/ft).
So this rollable solar panel can? produce more power then any other solar panel out there? Who makes it? Who’s the company? I got an Idea for them. My e-mail rwdisland@yahoo.com or call 1-757-637-5518. I need all the info.
Those thin-film solar? panels are manufactured by Uni-Solar Ovonics, a subsidiary of the Detroit,? Michigan company? Energy Conversion Devices. Ticker symbol? ENER

Thin is In!
Soon you will be able to buy them from wholesale liquidators. The company that is making them will be filing for bankruptcy by? June 30 next year (based on where its bonds are trading now) – those modules cost more to manufacture than the company can sell them for.
where do you buy the rollable panels ? watching? you has gotten me very interested in solar power.
Where can? I get some
Video starts…
Camera pans across the panel…
I die from shock of how EPIC? that panel is…
Dan & Denise,? you two ok? Or on holidays… Been a while since this vid?
Great video, thanks! Why? you use those chinese junk grid tie inverter?
I don’t get it.
22 cells connected in series should = 11 or so volts. I never heard of anything other than about half a volt per cell.
Or are they little 44 volt mini panels strung together in parallel? Oh, guess they would be since each has its own diode so that when shade hits some, the others aren’t affected.
I bet it would also double as a source of heat for water (since most of the sunlight is absorbed by the dark color and re-emitted as? infrared).
@GREENPOWERSCIENCE If you are only in it for the payoff, only switch your light bulbs to compact florescent or LED. payoff 1? month for CPF and 7 months for LED on average. If you are hooked on incandescent do not consider solar. Like buying bottled water to put out a fire. Makes no sense. First step before going solar is to eject old tvs computer monitors old PCs appliances. All new energy efficient. You will cut your e bill in half and have all new stuff solar install now 1/2 price 4 half watts
RE PAYBACK:
we bought new 95′ 8cy mustang new in 1994 (midlife thing?;-) actual mpg = 12city 15 hwy required 92octaine+ or it rattled horribly (ext warranty 40k in repairs in 40k miles lemon but not official) Gas 87ยข gallon why buy a new car 2001 now owned free and clear. When gas hit $2.40prem+ in 2005 reason was there. 120 mile rnd trip biz = $25-$30 go to the mall/store $6 a trip.
New Lancer = 35 mpg. own? free/clear save $2,000 year in fuel, biz tax deduction the same$ per mile:-) poff 4yrs
Then, this will lower my already small consumption during the day, but will produce too much, so I will also charge a LiFePO4 48v 4kwh battery bank that will at? night give back the necessary electricity in my home grid
About Uni Solar PVL panels:
They get more light from the sun even when it is a bit cloudy, and their voltage doesn’t drop when they heat up in the sun…
So more expensive than other panels, yes, but you get more out of them and mounting them is ‘piece of cake’ so you save on l
@venicestu Nothing more than a product? review for one solar panel available. Up to us individually to decide if it’s a suitable product for our needs.
@Petawatt ok so why did you put up your first comment? man……
@kdknitro
Well, well, well, you’ve discovered the reason that solar power isn’t on every house in the country. Huge up front costs? mixed with a highly mobile customer base ( mortgage rates on a 30 year loan track the 10 year T-bill!)
($6000/$86)/12months per year = almost 6 years payback, and that’s not even counting in the “time value of money”. To be fair, the panels do not degrade that fast. They’ll still be putting out significant juice after 20 years
ok. how hot? does that flexible PV collector get. Can I use it as a heat collector too? Sort of a hybrid PV / air Heating thing? I imagine that heat is the enemy of the PV collector… removing heat witha air streaming over it, and into my room, seems like getting something for nothing, no?
Dan great video! can? you please share the brand or website of the panel? I’d like to get one to experiment w/it… Thanks!
@Petawatt ok it is 84 bucks a month right, say your stuff cost 6000= low end 7 years return on investment then your solar? panel degrade and you have to buy more and your hit stars over. They are starting to get better in price but right now there just no fesable for your average joe which is who needs the money savings on power.
